Text
William Connor studied German, English literature, and Theatre at Victoria University in Wellington, where he completed his Master’s in creative writing in 2016. He lives between Berlin and Greytown, New Zealand, and works as a translator, editor, writer, and puppeteer. He has published numerous poems and short stories in several anthologies and journals, has written and performed in a number of plays that have toured New Zealand and Germany, and is the writer and cocreator of the intercultural comedy web-series Lifeswap, which explores and celebrates the differences between the German and New Zealand cultures. In his work as a translator, William focuses on striking a balance between the “science” of finding word-for-word equivalents of the information in an author’s original work and the “art” of creating an authentic, engaging, and beautiful text in the target language.
